‘Absolute Encoder’

An Engineeringtalk guide

Start with the news release Rotary encoders provide 1nm and 2nm resolutions from Renishaw, which we summarised at the time by saying "Renishaw has introduced 1nm and 2nm resolution versions of its Tonic incremental encoder range.". Several months prior to that, we featured the news release RDP transducers give direct analogue output from RDP Electronics: "RDP Electronics' rugged MTS R Series analogue transducers are suited to a range of industrial applications that require a direct analogue output for continuous measurement of displacement and speed. ".

In November 2009, we covered the news from SKF UK - take a look at SKF systems boost uptime of Isis neutron choppers which says: "SKF rolling bearings and condition monitoring systems are maximising the uptime of precision devices used in the Isis neutron and muon source at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire.".

Take a look also at the news release from Sick Stegmann, SICK introduces single- and multi-turn encoders, as well as BEI encoder allows unlimited resolution variations from BEI Industrial Encoder Division, and McLennan releases E192 and P205 DC gear motors from McLennan Servo Supplies.
