We see from your search that you're looking for information on the term "Hostile Environment", and we have a large number of manufacturers' news releases and technical articles here on Engineeringtalk which will be of interest. Let me be your guide.

Start with the news release Bearing system boosts tyre shredding efficiency from Baldor UK, which we summarised at the time by saying "The Dodge Grip Tight adapter-style bearing has a mechanical maintenance feature that loosens it by simply turning a nut". A few weeks before, we featured the news release Polymer chosen to encapsulate sensor from Victrex USA: "Victrex Peek polymer offered CG.TEC Injection design freedom when encapsulating one of its sensors".

In August 2007, we covered the news from Contrinex UK concerning its Contrinex M12 sensor - take a look at Laser sensor operates in harsh environments which says: "Contrinex' new M12 sensor is immune to interference from other light sources, resistant to high shock levels and protected against the effects of electro-magnetic radiation".

Take a look also at the news release from Birchwood Casey, Corrosion - a new way to combat it in a new era, as well as Report deals with mechatronics in Russia from De Montfort University Leicester, and Suspension struts cut corrosion from Associated Spring.
