We see from your search that you're looking for information on the term "Linear Scales", and we have a large number of manufacturers' news releases and technical articles here on Engineeringtalk which will be of interest. Let me be your guide.

Start with the news release Video measurement machines improve productivity from OGP UK, which we summarised at the time by saying "OGP's Starlite non-contact video measurement machines are manually operated but offer many semi-automatic features such as auto-edge detection and focus". Several months prior to that, we featured the news release Digital readout ensures accuracy for subcontractor from Newall Measurement Systems: "Southampton-based subcontract machinist RS Tooling uses digital readout technology on its large, manual turning machines used to complete contracts for specialist markets".

In June 2005, we covered the news from Newall Measurement Systems concerning its B60 DRO - take a look at Digital readout suits both turning and milling which says: "Newall Measurement Systems has launched a new cost effective digital readout (DRO) aimed at general machining applications where accuracy is a prime consideration".

Take a look also at the news release from Mahr Federal, Form tester boosts measurement accuracy, as well as Linear guides come with digital feedback from Schneeberger, and PC-based position measurement products go via RS from Deva Electronic Controls.
