We see from your search that you're looking for information on the term "Linear Stage", and we have a large number of manufacturers' news releases and technical articles here on Engineeringtalk which will be of interest. Let me be your guide.

Start with the news release Linear and rotation stages suit precision work from Newport Spectra-Physics, which we summarised at the time by saying "The holding force of the motors lock the position of the AG-LS25 and AG-PR100 for true set-and-forget, long-term stability". A few weeks before, we featured the news release Positioning stage offers high throughput from Aerotech: "The ABL1500 air bearing linear positioning stage offers high vertical and horizontal stiffness for superior pitch, yaw, roll, straightness and flatness performance, even under heavy load conditions".

In January 2007, we covered the news from Aerotech concerning its Alar range - take a look at Direct-drive stages for precision positioning which says: "Stages combine brushless direct-drive motor technology and integral precision encoders with angular contact bearings for backlash-free, fast and ultraprecise positioning with a high payload capacity".

Take a look also at the news release from Copley Controls Corp, Linear drive simplifies gantry building, as well as Linear stage is base for laser cutting machinery from Aerotech, and Micron level accuracy from stage from Aerotech.
