We see from your search that you're looking for information on the term "Proximity Switch", and we have a large number of manufacturers' news releases and technical articles here on Engineeringtalk which will be of interest. Let me be your guide.

Start with the news release Position sensor features flexible design from RDP Electronics, which we summarised at the time by saying "Magnetostrictive position sensor is designed for continuous operation even when subject to the harshest industrial environments". A couple of weeks before, we featured the news release Noncontact switches provide cost-effective safety from Rockwell Automation: "Noncontact switches help designers rconcile the conflicting issues of protection of personnel and equipment and flexibility and productivity".

In September 2007, we covered the news from RDP Electronics concerning its MTS Temposonics R magnetostrictive position sensor - take a look at Position sensor provides precise results which says: "The R series device allows positioning of up to 15 magnets along the length of the sensor, significantly reducing installation and maintenance costs".

Take a look also at the news release from Rockwell Automation, Non-contact switches protect staff and machinery, as well as Air leakage surveys provide potential for savings from Wyko, an Eriks Company, and Open standard offers open dialogue from Sick (UK).
