Asaba Engineering has developed a high-efficiency coreless miniature DC motor for motion control applications.

Asaba Engineering has developed a high-efficiency coreless miniature DC motor for motion control applications.

Motor length and weight is some 40 to 50% less than a standard model with a similar specification, thanks to a high efficiency of 88.8%.

This efficiency figure has been made possible by Asaba's new patented coil winding technology, which results in a low power consumption of 3.4mA at no-load speed, and quick response times.

The 26mm diameter Model YDC-26 is 22.2mm long and weighs 60g.

Rated voltage is 6V, minimum starting voltage is from 0.02V.

Starting torque is 39.38mNm and the torque constant is 38.3mNm/A.

A high ratio gearbox is not required, yet acoustic noise is lower even with low ratio gears.

A double shaft for an encoder is available as option.

Applications include robot actuators, mobile medical products and miniature power supplies.
