Wearplate provides ongoing Malasian success

An Ace Arc product story

One of Malaysia's largest distributors of wear-resistant products and services has chosen Ace Arc to supply its chromium carbide wearplate.

Dualrank, which supplies the cement, glass, mining and palm oil industries, undertook a worldwide search to identify a wearplate to develop under its own 'Star' brand name.

After conducting extensive field tests, the Ace Arc product was found to provide the best performance in terms of abrasion resistance and durability.

"The very high grade alloy and metallurgical process used create probably the best wearplate in its class on the market", says James Buxton, Managing Director of Dualrank.

"Lead times are also very good, with just three weeks between order and delivery to Malaysia".

Dualrank is already using the Ace Arc wearplate to overcome wear problems for customers in the glass and mineral processing sectors.

"Once end users have been able to compare this wearplate to the product they are currently using, they are happy to change over", says Buxton.

"We are already receiving around GBP 25,000 worth of orders a quarter".

Ace Arc wearplate comprises a chromium carbide overlay material fused to a mild steel backing plate.

During the computer-controlled manufacturing process, a homogenous layer is formed between the welded surface and the backing plate, creating a very strong metallurgical bond.

The result is an extremely abrasion resistant wearplate with a typical hardness of 58-62RC.

To ensure optimum high-wear resistance, chrome levels combined with the size and distribution of the carbide content, are carefully formulated to achieve material compositions providing maximum wear life.

Various grades of chromium carbide plate are manufactured to meet the most demanding of applications covering heavy abrasion, high temperatures, chemical attack or corrosion.

Production is carried out within closely monitored parameters - more than 25 separate checks are made on hardness and thickness during manufacture to guarantee consistent product quality and ensure ISO9002 quality standards are met.

Ace 600 wearplate can be supplied in a range of sizes and thickness, with optional thickness ratios of hardfacing to backing plate also available on thicknesses over 10mm.
