Alpha Gear Drives has published a new 32-page guide to its line of SP+ and SP+ High Speed series planetary gearheads.

Alpha Gear Drives has published a new 32-page guide to its line of SP+ and SP+ High Speed series planetary gearheads.

The guide includes technical data and diagrams detailing the SP+ gearhead's positioning accuracy, high acceleration, low noise and low standard backlash capabilities.

The SP+ series is a successor to Alpha's highly successful SP line, with improvements in every aspect of performance and service life.

Seven sizes of SP+ gearheads are being rolled out in 2004, replacing the corresponding SP series models.

The new SP+ series features low noise levels to 64dB(A), four times quieter than standard gearheads.

They offer up to 20% higher torque capacity, with 17-750Nm nominal and 40-1100Nm acceleration torques.

A new output bearing design gives the SP+ longer bearing lifetime and up to 25% improved torsional rigidity, for higher axial and radial loading capacities than any gearhead in its class.

The SP+ High Speed version is designed to run up to 4500 rpm in continuous operation, compared to standard gearheads that are generally rated at 3000rev/min, and then only for cyclic duty.

Its highly efficient dry-lubricated design allows the SP+ High Speed to produce half the heat and offer three times the service life (30kh) of competing designs.
