Today's manufacturing processes are pushing the limit of conventional drive mechanisms in striving for more precise control, better process management and optimal machine designs.

Using modern sensor technology integrated into the output of a drive component simplifies the elimination of process variables and allows for easier sensor integration into a machine Wittenstein's alphaIQ solution features sensors loaded directly into the gearbox, allowing all mechanical loads to be processed, including torques, shear forces, speed thermal loads, wear and backlash

Customised software (included in the sensor kit) allows PC display of all the variables.

Many of alpha and Wittenstein's customers use this technology to better understand their system's requirements.

Ultimately, the goal is to provide the customer with the greatest understanding of his/her system and ensure a correctly sized gearbox is being used properly.

Using advanced sensor technology in prototype or proof-of-concept machines helps the machine designers eliminate unknowns from their system by providing accurate and real-time feedback of what is happening in the process.

This sensor technology can also be used to close the torque loop of a control system where the torque actually matters - at the output.

Machine life can be accurately measured by determining the loads and forces present at the drive mechanism.
