Wittenstein upgrades alpha gearboxes

A Wittenstein product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 16, 2009

The alpha SP+ and alpha TP+ gearboxes from Wittenstein now have higher technical specifications.

The technical specifications are available online and in the 2009 Wittenstein (alpha) catalogue.

The upgraded gearboxes are the results of Wittenstein's years of research, development and improvements in the field of mechatronics.

The torques are significantly higher - up to 25 per cent, depending on the version - raising the power density of these compact gearboxes.

Users can benefit from energy savings from this extra torque as they can select a smaller, more cost-effective gearbox without compromising on specifications.

The optimal gearbox can be designed into a system with the help of Wittenstein's latest version of the Cymex3.2 servo-sizing tool, which features an integrated calculator for energy consumption.

Additional configurations of the new design include: reduced inertia option; SP+ with extreme high-speed option; and SP+ with hollow (shrink disc) output.
