Robot is one "tough cookie"
The IRB 6600 is a high-precision, agile yet robust robot, specially designed for demanding process applications such as spot welding, materials handling and machine tending.
Robot automation boosts enclosure manufacture
Rittal-CSM has integrated robot-based automation across its welding cells at regular time intervals and now employs ABB six-axis robots in a wide range of applications.
That is why 80% of cleaning operations are still performed manually.
Even though the job is done in a harsh, hazardous environment, where scrap rates are high and quality inconsistent.
It still enjoys the initiative over automation.
Until now that is.
TeachSaver, an addon product to RobotStudio, achieves a 90% reduction time in programming, improves product quality due to more accurate processing, and offers dramatic time savings throughout the life cycle of the work cell.
Traditionally, literally hundreds of positions have to be taught to the foundry robot, a process that can be extremely time consuming.
Using offline programming software, a digital measurement arm and TeachSaver software however, not only can programming time be dramatically reduced, but the whole process can be conducted offline with no effect on production.
Also high accuracy calibration allows the transfer of predefined programs from the virtual cell to the live cell with a high degree of accuracy.
Launched at GIFA 2003, TeachSaver was originally an experimental project carried out by ABB Corporate Research in USA and has taken five years of research and development to bring it to market.
The result is a state-of-the-art software program which upgrades foundry industry processes from the Victorian age to the 21st century in a single step. Request a free brochure from ABB Robotics ...
