ABB has strengthened its UK Manufacturing Automation team with the appointment of Alan Spreckley as Account Manager - Consumer Industries and Packaging.

Spreckley brings with him a wealth of domain experience having previously worked for Motoman, Staubli and Prab robots, as well as time as Marketing Manager for Syspal, a leading equipment supplier to hygiene conscious industries.

His remit is to focus on robotic solutions within the consumer industry segment, including picking, packing and palletising applications.

Commenting on his appointment, Spreckley says: "The ABB ethos of combining quality, reliability and innovation will see solutions offered both in high and low risk areas".

"Working with a select nucleus of OEM partners and systems integrators, we can offer a full range of robots from the highly innovative FlexPicker, which is available in stainless steel and wash down versions, right through to the heavy duty IRB 7600 series with 500kg payload".

Spreckley's appointment reflects a particularly buoyant period of activity within ABB's market sectors.

Enquiry levels have exceeded expectations recently with a substantial number of orders already placed this year.
