Robot software launched in Birmingham

An ABB Robotics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 27, 2007

Visitors to ABB Robotics' stand will see a demonstration of picking, packing and palletising for packaging lines.

ABB Robotics is launching its new fifth generation robot controller and PickMaster 5 software at Total Processing and Packaging at the NEC, Birmingham, 15th-18th May.

Visitors to ABB Robotics' stand 5291 at the event will see a demonstration on how the controller, software and the ABB robot range combine to deliver a complete picking, packing and palletising offer for packaging lines.

Recognising that some companies remain fearful of the perceived complexity of programming robot lines, the new PickMaster 5 software simplifies the integration of picking, packing and palletising operations via an intuitive interface.

The PC-based software uses comprehensive graphical interfaces to configure powerful applications, where up to 16 robots may work in a team alongside conveyor belts.

With many proven process functions built in to the single software product, PickMaster 5 efficiently minimises both the time and the risks in developing even complex palletising and packaging solutions.

At the show the latest IRC5 robot controller will demonstrate its modular panel-mount concept, ergonomically designed portable interface and simplified operation for single or multiple robot cells.

Being specifically designed for panel mounting, it is ideal for system integrators and machine builders.

Easy integration with existing equipment designs, substantial space savings and exceptional versatility make the IRC5 a cost-effective investment that is readily expandable to meet future demands.

Also on display will be the IRB340 FlexPicker, the flexible robot solution for high-speed picking.

A demonstration will show how the FlexPicker is the fastest robot in the world, with 150 picks per minute and a payload up to 2kg.

Completing the Total show line up will be an IRB 260 packing robot and an IRB660 palletising robot.
