ABB drive saves two days of set up time
A 37 kW variable speed drive with Direct Torque Control (DTC) from ABB Automation is being used to control the speed of a motor in a friction-welding machine that manufactures valves for car engines.
The new agreement will see a range of ABB motors stocked at Hagemeyer's 10 industrial service centres around the country and at its national distribution centre in Runcorn, Cheshire.
David Cousins, director and general manager of Hagemeyer's industrial service centre network said: "We wanted to stock ABB motors because they are a quality brand.
We already sell motor control products and the deal with ABB regarding motors will ensure we fill a gap in our product lines." Hagemeyer offers a very fast service, with same day delivery on many orders, including ABB motors.
Added Cousins: "ABB motors fit our brand strategy perfectly.
Many of our customers are large 'blue chip' manufacturing companies, such as food and beverage processing and automotive component manufacturers.
These kinds of companies like to buy well known recognised brands for the extra reliability and peace of mind it gives them on critical plant that they are operating." Customers can place orders by phone, fax or e-mail.
Those customers with particularly large or complex orders will be visited by a sales representative to discuss their needs.
Motors will be delivered direct from the Hagemeyer using the company's own fleet of vehicles directly to the customer.
Said Cousins: "If a motor under 11kW fails it is often not economical to repair it.
Buying new is the best option in this case.
We offer a facility where companies can get all their maintenance, repair and operation supplies, including motors, from one source." Hagemeyer's industrial service will complement the existing network of ABB motor service partners, who will continue to offer customers, including those supplied by Hagemeyer, services such as fitting and uncoupling of motors and application engineering.
