Catalogue explains the applicable regulatory requirements, helping users make the right choices of motors for use in hazardous areas.

A new 255-page full-colour catalogue on motors for hazardous areas covers a range of units designed to meet the toughest safety standards in many of the world's most strictly regulated environments, where flammable gas, vapour or dust may be present.

As well as details of the ABB product range, the catalogue also explains the applicable regulatory requirements, helping users make the right equipment choices.

Both low- and high-voltage motors are available.

Low-voltage versions come in sizes from 71 to 450 to cover 0.25 to 1000kW.

High-voltage motor sizes range from 315 to 710 for 110 to 4500kW.

The catalogue is split into separate sections for easy reference, with details of low-voltage flameproof motors (Ex d/Ex de), low-voltage increased-safety motors (Ex e), low-voltage nonsparking motors (Ex nA), low-voltage dust ignition proof motors (DIP/Ex tD) and high-voltage nonsparking (Ex nA) and dust-ignition-proof motors (DIP/Ex tD).

ABB's motors conform to the stringent standards set by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation (CENELEC) and are approved by testing laboratories (ExNB: Notified Body).

Global certificates are also provided, including IEC, IECEx Scheme, ATEX, CSA, and CSA/US certificates, while national certificates are generally available to meet specific local requirements.
