Keep tabs on blown fuses in motor controls
The new OFM electronic fuse monitor has been developed by ABB Control to provide increased safety and faster repairs for three-phase motor control centres
The MS 116 combines switching, disconnecting and fuseless motor protection in a single compact, and cost-effective device with a positive rotary switch action which provides clear indication of the switch position.
Typical applications for the MS 116 will include: packaging machinery, wood sawing and chopping machinery, agricultural machinery, pumps, conveyor systems and air conditioning units.
A range of just 11 units covers the whole current range up to 16A, while the MS 116's small dimensions make it ideally suited for applications where space is restricted.
A further space saving feature is the availability of a front mounted auxiliary contact, which therefore does not increase the 45mm installed width of the unit.
In order to form a motor starter combination the MS 116 can be equipped with an adaptor for either ABB minicontactors or A series contactors.
No additional wiring is necessary since the manual motor starters and contactors are automatically coordinated.
An important new feature of the MS 116 series is that it is also available as a starter combination with a fieldbus plug.
The MS 116 is the lowest rated range within ABB's comprehensive series of manual motor starters which can switch and protect motors up to 100A The MS 116 CD is available free from ABB.
