A new booklet from ABB offers guidelines on how to inspect and properly maintain its A-line and EH series contactors.

A new booklet from ABB offers guidelines on how to inspect and properly maintain its A-line and EH series contactors.

It covers a number of useful and informative topics aimed at helping professional electricians recognise common faults often associated with main circuit contacts.

The contents of the eight-page A5-sized booklet are conveniently divided into five headings covering mechanical wear, maintenance of contacts, interpreting levels of electrical contact wear, changing contacts and trouble shooting.

Each page is illustrated with colour photos and/or cutaway diagrams clearly explaining each topic.

For example, the guidelines explain that determining the levels of electrical contact wear is essential from both the functional and economic point of view.

Premature service on contactors will increase the overall cost.

However, service at the right time to avoid interruptions or breakdowns is more cost effective.

The brochure also includes a helpful trouble-shooting guide to common reasons for excessive contact wear and shortened contact life.
