Distribution boards save space, time and
money
The Protecta range of final distribution boards is designed specifically to save space, installation time and costs in industrial, office, hotel and leisure applications.
ABB's new Protecta range of final distribution boards, designed specifically to save space, installation time and costs in industrial, office, hotel and leisure applications, is the latest addition to the company's family of high-performance consumer units and distribution boards The Protecta range provides the option for an integral 250A switch disconnector, eliminating the need for bulky and expensive extension units for 250A incoming devices, and is the ideal partner to ABB's new space-saving S280 80A and 100A MCBs (miniature circuit breakers) and DS 271 RCBO (residual current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection)

Keep tabs on blown fuses in motor controls
The new OFM electronic fuse monitor has been developed by ABB Control to provide increased safety and faster repairs for three-phase motor control centres
The Protecta features a rugged metal enclosure including earth and neutral busbars and comes complete with an integral door lock as standard - with no separate kit to purchase.
Two versions of the Protecta are available, Type A and Type B.
The Protecta Type A has an SP and N busbar rating of 100A/230V, has five outgoing way options from four to 20 ways, has 10 incomer RCCB options from 63 to 100A including time delayed, and uses 100A switch disconnectors.

Compact MCBs cover up to 100A
S280 miniature circuit breakers are claimed to be the only MCBs capable of providing overcurrent protection for equipment and cables up to 100A within a standard width single-pole module.
The Protecta Type B has a TP and N busbar rating of 250A/400V, has seven outgoing way options from four to 24 ways, offers six incomer RCCB options from 63 to 100A including time delayed, has 100 and 125A switch disconnectors, and features a 250A nonautomatic triple-pole MCCB.
ABB's S280 miniature circuit breakers (MCBs), which fit directly into the Protecta board with no need for expensive extension boxes, are the first to provide overcurrent protection for equipment and cables up to 100A within a standard width (17.5mm) single-pole module.
The S280 range, which also includes double-, triple- and four-pole versions, is rated for either 80 or 100A with a breaking capacity of 6kA in accordance to BS EN 60898 and is available with tripping characteristics B and C.
The ABB DS 271 residual current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection (RCBO) combine the functions of a miniature circuit breaker (MCB) and a residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) in a compact space saving 17.5mm module.
It provides supplementary earth leakage protection for individual circuits in order to protect people from the risk of electrocution and fires caused by electrical faults, whilst also providing overcurrent protection for equipment and cables.
The ABB DS271 RCBO is designed to meet the requirements of BS EN61009 and features a single pole and solid neutral.
It has an operating voltage of 230V and covers a range of six rated currents from 6 to 32A, and is available in two fixed levels of sensitivity of either 10 or 30mA.
The DS 271 RCBO has a breaking capacity of 10kA in accordance to BS EN60898 and is available in tripping curves B and C in accordance with BS EN60898 and as standard is of Type AC operation.
Devices of Type A operation are available to order.
