ABB's new range of AL contactors and NL contactor relays features a low power consumption DC coil which enables direct control by PLC transistor outputs without the use of an interface relay.

ABB's new range of AL contactors and NL contactor relays features a low power consumption DC coil which enables direct control by PLC transistor outputs without the use of an interface relay.

They are ideal for all PLC controlled applications such as industrial machinery, robots, conveyors and elevators, and versions with a large coil operating range are available for traction applications.

In battery-powered installations the low power consumption coil offers a greatly increased battery life.

ABB AL three-pole contactors are designed for control of power circuits and motors from 4kW (AL9) up to 18.5kW (AL40) at a voltage up to 690V AC (50Hz) and 440V DC.

They include integral auxiliary contacts and are fitted with either a 3 or 3.5W operating coil.

AL contactors are also available in four-pole versions in three ratings from AL9 to AL26.

NL contactor relays feature a 3W coil and are available with either four or eight poles.

The AL range is completed by the TAL and TNL versions which feature a large coil operating range.

These contactors meet the main specifications and standards for traction applications and are available with the option of ring tongue terminals.

AL contactors are available with either cable clamps or double connectors terminals, and the capability for mounting in nonstandard positions offers additional installation flexibility.

The whole range has an insulation voltage of 1000V and conforms to international standards such as UL, CSA and CCC (China).

The AL range has the same aesthetically appealing design as ABB's well established A range of block contactors from 4 to 400kW and shares a large selection of common accessories such as auxiliary contacts (front or side mounting), overload relays, mechanical/electrical interlocks and surge suppressors.
