The Project X unit is based on a Colour-Matrix scale that enables it to measure X, Y and rotational positions with extremely high levels of accuracy.
Measuring device handles multiple axes
CNC Project X does not require the use of a joystick as programs are written by operating the machine in a normal manual mode using the standard hand wheels.
The great distance involved and related logistical problems dictate that support from the Tewksbury mother plant needs to be kept to a minimum.
As the new facility needs to be operated as a largely stand-alone production unit, Trelleborg has insisted that all purchased plant and associated ancillary equipment should be cost-effective, easy to use, multi-functional, and lot least, ultra reliable.
Trelleborg's recently acquired Aberlink Zenith co-ordinate measuring machine matches all of the company's demanding criteria.
Using Aberlink's software, the Zenith boasts a generous measuring envelope to accommodate all of the satellite plant's safety critical seals.
For most applications Aberlink's Zenith would be supplied with a touch probe, but due to the deformable nature of Trelleborg's products, the new CMM is fitted with Aberlink's noncontact, Telecentric Camera rendering.
Trelleborg's Aerospace Project Engineer Mike Buckle said "After hearing about the Zenith, through a third-party recommendation, a visit to Aberlink's Showroom confirmed the excellent reports that we had received".
"Although we considered other CMM options, we concluded that Aberlink's Zenith represented our optimum answer, at the right price, for our satellite unit's measuring needs".
"Our new Aberlink CMM is now helping to uphold Trelleborg's reputation for quality seals".
"Since Its installation, our Zenith has proven to be fast, accurate, extremely easy to use and ultra reliable".
