Aberlink gives CMMs temperature sensor technology

An Aberlink product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 4, 2008

Aberlink has added advanced temperature sensor technology to its entire CMM range.

This new technology involves embedding a responsive sensor into the bridge of a CMM and making a compensation for the recorded temperature finding, which improves the machine's accuracy.

It is suitable for CMMs used on shop floors or in other areas that experience changing temperature.

Aberlink's advanced CMM bridges are manufactured from high-grade aluminium, which provides excellent thermal conductivity, ensuring no minimum temperature gradients across the machine and hence no distortion.

This methodology ensures high levels of accuracy and repeatability in less than perfect working environments.

The Aberlink sensing system automatically senses changes in the ambient temperature.

It compensates for the prevailing ambient temperature by recording measurements as if they had been taken at a nominal 20C.
