Absopulse Electronics has released the HVI 500R series, a 500W addition to its line of high input voltage DC/DC converters.

The unit accepts 750V DC input voltage (525V - 975V DC range), the traction voltage typically required for mass transit vehicles such as trams, metros and light rail.

The standard series delivers 12V, 24V, 36V or 48V DC.

Other output voltages are available on request.

An optional built-in redundancy diode would allow for a number of units to be connected in parallel to achieve higher output power or N+1 redundancy.

The HVI 500R meets the requirements of EN50155 for electronic equipment used on rolling stock and is filtered to meet EN 50121-3-2 EMI/EMC.

The unit is designed to meet IEC 61373 Categories 1 A and B shock and vibration standards.

Cooled by conduction and natural air convection, it is rated for -25C to 55C for full specification, with wider temperature ranges also available.

The unit features high efficiency, low output noise and full protection on the input and output.

All critical components on the primary side are designed and tested for corona inception levels significantly higher than the operating voltages.
