Alibre, the first to offer a native-Web mechanical collaborative product development (CPD) service for global manufacturers and their supply chains, and MatrixOne have announced an alliance partnership.
Under the partnership, Alibre Design will be integrated with eMatrix, MatrixOne's business-to-business (B2B) product collaboration platform, providing eMatrix customers with enhanced collaboration and visualisation capabilities in order to improve product development processes among global enterprises and their supply chains.
MatrixOne's products provide a secure solution for establishing B2B collaboration among trusted customers, suppliers and other business partners in private and public environments and enables enterprises to dramatically increase cross-function product development productivity inside their organisation.
The combined solution will give eMatrix customers the ability to collaborate synchronously and asynchronously on 2D and 3D mechanical designs via the Internet.
"Alibre and MatrixOne share a vision to connect suppliers, partners and customers in the product development process and enable secure distribution of design data beyond the corporate engineering department," said John Custer, vice-president of sales at Alibre.
"As a result, OEM's can work closely with global divisions to re-use designs and take advantage of design expertise and innovation in the supply chain." The unique Real-time Team ModellingSM and peer-to-peer data management capabilities offered by Alibre Design enable global project members to simultaneously share, access, view and edit 2D and 3D designs.
This allows eMatrix customers to utilise the design and manufacturing knowledge of the entire supply chain, thus facilitating the exploration of design alternatives or catching design flaws and problems earlier in the process.
As a result, design cycles are shortened and quality is improved, leading to reduced time-to-market and costs.
