Alibre has raised the prize fund for the Alibre Challenge from $500 to $1000, and recognised the achievement of Ron Routledge who produced the only qualifying entry thus far.

Alibre issued the Alibre Challenge to CAD software users who believe that their mechanical designs cannot be created in Alibre Design 6.0, but can be done in SolidWorks, Solid Edge or Autodesk Inventor.

Since the challenge was first promoted in the company's March ads, a number of users have contacted Alibre sales representatives or the Alibre Assistant with design features they thought would challenge Alibre Design.

However, all found that their work actually could be done.

All except for Ron Routledge, whose design could not be recreated exactly in Alibre Design 6.0.

Although Routledge successfully challenged Alibre Design, he became an Alibre customer and purchased Alibre Design Professional.

"I won the Alibre Challenge, and I still decided to buy Alibre Design", said Ron Routledge, design consultant.

"It compares very favorably with SolidWorks and other mid-range modelling products, and is a fraction of the cost.

In fact, Alibre Design out does them with its online support and version tracking capabilities.

There is no better value in CAD today".

"Much like Vegas casinos celebrate their big winners, we're recognising users who beat us in the Alibre Challenge", said J Paul Grayson, Alibre President and CEO.

"The purpose of the challenge, though, has been to signal to our prospective customers that Alibre Design should be compared to the industry's strongest mid-range CAD applications.

We certainly beat them on price and with the strength of Alibre Design 6.0, we're demonstrating the parity of our software, too.

I'm pleased to give the reward prize, because for every recipient, many others have proved to themselves that they can get their work done with Alibre Design".
