The UJ, GJ and GJK ranges of coupling supply this demand.
There are three basic models, starting with the TYPE UJ which is characterised by its single flexible element.
This series is capable of transmitting torques up to 8 kg/cm through 8 degrees of angular misalignment.
Typical shaft sizes accepted are 2mm up to 6mm.
The second model is the TYPE GJ which has two flexible elements for greater parallel shaft offset capability.
The plastics composition is also reinforced with glass fibre to give it a higher torque capability.
The glass fibre reinforcement also gives the coupling a higher torsion stiffness making it ideal for use with rotary encoders.
The maximum angular displacement is 12 degrees, with parallel displacements from .03 to 0.5mm and torques from 1.8 to 35kg/cm.
This coupling also offers a degree of overload protection, failing at 1.7 to 2 times it's maximum transmission torque.
Finally, TYPE GJK has a greater amount of glass fibre, adding to it's torque capability and torsional stiffness.
This series can compete against aluminium couplings but with considerable cost savings.
With all of the designs, shaft attachment is by two grub screws at each end of the shaft coupling.
