Abssac's precision lead screws have recently helped with a retrofitting requirement in the printing industry by supplying them in a choice of colours.

By having the capability to supply a range of leads (the amount of linear movement achieved for one complete revolution of the screw) in the same diameter of screw was a key factor in securing the order.

However, with very slight differences in the actual lead being as small as 0.5mm it would be difficult to differentiate the parts should they be accidentally placed together during installation.

The solution was to supply the screws coated in Xylan, an organic barrier coating, that not only has a low coefficient of friction ideal for linear applications, but is also available in a range of colours.

This enabled the colour-coded identification of the parts to be achieved and also documented in the associated servicing manuals.
