ABB secures order to supply cable technology

An ABB Automation Technologies product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 5, 2009

ABB, a power and automation technology group, has won an order from SEAS-NVE, a Danish energy company, to provide a cable solution.

This is intended to help strengthen the existing transmission grid and enable the integration of more wind power from the Rodsand II offshore wind park, which is expected to be commissioned in late 2010.

ABB will supply, install and commission 116km of underground cable and 56km of submarine cable, both rated at 145kV.

The cable technology being deployed is designed to manage overload and has a double-circuit option, which helps secure transmission even if the cable gets damaged.

This is also intended to facilitate the transmission grid's efficiency and flexibility.
