Upgrade to digital design communications
tool
Digital design communications tool for the automotive, high technology, aerospace, industrial automation and discrete manufacturing industries can interact with product manufacturing information.
Actify has introduced the Spinfire Professional v8.0 digital design communications tool for the automotive, high technology, aerospace, industrial automation and discrete manufacturing industries It can interact with product manufacturing information (PMI, also known as GDandT)
A plug-in API can be used to customise the software.
The user interface has been updated and there are improved analysis capabilities and an easier exploded assembly creation tool.
Users have instant access to complete and accurate design data, reducing design errors, lowering operating costs and shortening product development cycles.
"This latest release of gives users a more sophisticated application for their collaboration and communication needs", said Randy Ochs, President and CEO of Actify "In working with our extensive worldwide customer base, Actify prioritised the new features on those with the most significant impact on the way our customers communicate digital designs through their enterprise and supply chain".
"This underscores our commitment to users in the auto, aero, industrial automation and consumer goods industries by delivering the most powerful digital design communications application available".
"SpinFire Professional v8.0 is a core component of the Actify suite, offering a flexible and highly configurable method for manufacturers looking for a competitive advantage and improved supply chain collaboration".
Version 8.0 makes 2D and 3D CAD data more easily accessible to technical and non-technical users.
It provides 2D and 3D CAD visualisation capabilities, without requiring a native CAD system, in a secure and user-friendly 3D format.
This enables access, communications and distribution of multiple CAD formats throughout the enterprise and supply chain allowing companies to realise cost savings and productivity gains in all facets of product design, procurement, quoting and estimating, manufacturing, sales, marketing and support.
Features include the ability to view and interact with PMI annotations; it has forward-reading labels during 3D dynamic camera rotation.
Handle-based transformations allow for easy drag and drop user-view creation and animations.
The API gives third party developers and end users the opportunity to create plug-in applications to leverage functions and technology within Spinfire Professional for customised uses and vertical industry applications.
The revised user interface has a layout, grouping, style and logic similar to Microsoft Office.
Markup features for notes and dimensions added to a part or assembly can be placed on a surface.
There are improved analysis capabilities for removing material and retaining material cross-section modes allowing users to choose between a full cross-section view and a profile view.
Complete part comparisons between an original model and a second version highlight added or removed material.
Files can be saved to Intel's U3D format for back-end archiving of design data in PDF format.
Version 8.0 supports files created in any major CAD file format allowing users in the manufacturing industries and their supply chains to use the same software for viewing, measuring, mark-up and sharing of major 2D and 3D data formats without needing to purchase and maintain seats of native CAD systems.
This streamlines the communications process and allows for paperless distribution of complex design data, increasing productivity and cutting costs.
