Thanks to the Adaptascan's autofocus capability and WindowsT-based configuration software, changes in focus, scan pattern, label format and communication requirements can be made on-line.

The all-in-one new AdaptaScan bar code scanner and decoder from Accu-Sort is a feature-rich system which, as its name suggests, is designed to adapt to the customer's changing needs Thanks to its autofocus capability and WindowsT-based configuration software, changes in focus, scan pattern, label format and communication requirements can be made on-line

AdaptaScan's Flash RAM design also provides the ability to upgrade the operating system in the field and add new features.

Thanks to the software control of focus, scan pattern etc., a single AdaptaScan can be used in unlimited applications.

This benefits distributors as they only need to stock a single model which can be quickly configured to meet the customer's specific application.

In this way customers requirements can be fulfilled efficiently from a modest stock holding.

Supporting both linear and raster scanning, AdaptaScan has an extensive selection of DeviceNet, DF1 and DH-485 communication protocol options which eliminate the need the costly interface drivers.

The range provides scan rates of up to 800 per second and reads all commonly-used bar codes including UPC/EAN, I 2 of 5, Code 39, Code 128, Codabar and Pharma Code.

The scanner and decoder are housed in a compact, rugged, IP65-rated cast aluminium enclosure which features a detachable wiring base for speedy installation and easy maintenance; the scanner simply plugs into a connector on the base.

Two optional, solid-state I/O modules permit interfacing with a wide range of industrial equipment.

AdaptaScan scanners can be used in peer-to-peer arrays to allow the sharing of input and output signals and the routing of bar code data through one dedicated unit.

For many applications, this eliminates the need for a separate multiplexer.

Typical applications for the new scanners include package content verification and counting, product identification, product sorting and manufacturing automation.
