Hands-free omnidirectional bar code scanner
Whilst the cost of the new Mini-X Dual VV may be similar to many, the capability of this new bar code scanner from Accu-Sort includes patented DRX decoding technology.
Whilst the cost of the new Mini-X Dual VV may be similar to that of its competitors, the capability of this new bar code scanner from Accu-Sort far exceeds them.
The Mini-X Dual VV has a higher scan rate and as standard, includes Accu-Sort's patented DRX decoding technology which enables damaged or poorly printed codes to be electronically reconstructed making high read rates easily attainable.
Other scanners use multiple laser diodes to develop the required scan pattern and coverage.
This contrasts sharply with the Mini-X Dual VV which combines a single long-life laser diode with highly sophisticated software to achieve the same.
Apart from a vibrating vane, the only other moving part in the Mini-X Dual VV is a brushless DC motor/mirror wheel.
As its design is simpler, the new Accu-Sort scanner is much more reliable.
This new model is described as the hands-free scanner as it has been developed principally to allow coded boxes to be manually passed under its field of view.
It is also useful for applications which cause the coded box to stop under the scan pattern.
During trials of this product one of the main operational benefits cited by testers was the unit's visible scan pattern which makes accurate positioning quick and easy.
The scan pattern of this new addition to the Mini-X range is a cross matrix which provides 1000 scannable segments.
Both horizontal and vertical scan lines or legs are rastered with a vibrating vane which widens the scan area.
The sweep distance and frequency of the vane can be adjusted to meet the needs of the application.
A dual-zone mirror wheel may also be specified to increase depth of field.
The scanner's laser diode with highly reliable thermoelectric cooler, optics and detector are sealed in a dust-tight compartment inside an IP54 rated housing.
This allows this new scanner to operate effectively in harsh industrial environments.
Despite having a integral decoder, the unit is small and lightweight; two serial ports permit connection to optical sensors and a tachometer.
The Accu-Sort Dual VV is just one model of six in the Mini-X range which combine to provide low cost, high performance omni-directional bar code scanning for a broad variety of industrial applications.
