Optimal PID settings found in record time
Topas is a novel PID tuning tool capable of using more than 20 tuning methods, evaluating them specifically for the given situation and selecting the best results.
So the company called ACT for help.
Being about 1000km away, ACT's Managing Director Hans Eder suggested sending some test or operating data before considering a visit.
Therefore a setpoint step was carried out and an Excel sheet with the result e-mailed to ACT.
Using the award winning software package Topas, the process parameters were identified, from there PID setting calculated and immediately tested with the integrated simulation environment.
Just 10 minutes after the data were received, new controller settings were e-mailed back to the customer and soon after implementation the loop stabilised.
The basis for this success was the range of powerful yet fast and easy to use methods and functions for process parameter estimation and PID tuning built into Topas, which is arguably the most comprehensive process control toolset and knowhow resource available.
