Plug-in communication modules increase the flexibility of the SMVector drive.

AC Technology, a member of the Lenze Group, announces the release of its communication modules for the SMVector drive.

Company officials describe the SMVector as excelling in environments where inverter technology was once considered too costly, including packaging machinery, food processing machinery, material handling/conveying systems and HVAC systems.

With a power range of up to 25hp, the SMVector carries all the features required by demanding applications including four modes of operation (V/Hz, enhanced V/Hz, vector speed and torque), high starting torque, auto-tuning, advanced low-speed control, and dynamic speed regulation.

Designed to be truly a global product, its input voltage ranges from 120V AC single-phase to 600V AC, three-phase.

To increase the product's flexibility, three communication options have been added to the drive.

They include RS485/Modbus, CANopen and DeviceNet.

These easy pop-in modules can be ordered factory-installed or simply as the module to be inserted into an already existing SMVector.

This allows the SMVector to be compatible in almost every machine environment, and allows the users to maintain their own communication preferences.

"One of the core strengths of AC Tech has been to take advanced technology and utilise common sense engineering practices to create very easy-to-use products", says Darrow Hanesian, Director of Product Management at AC Technology Corporation.

He added: "The model SMVector is the next generation of inverter technology that continues this proven and successful philosophy".

The SMVector also includes AC Technology's electronic programming module (EPM), which is the drive's memory in a removable chip.

This feature allows a customer to program multiple drives in mere seconds.
