Chargers raise voltage for Canadian batteries

A range of battery chargers is targeted at the Canadian motive power industry to complement existing 480V lead-acid battery chargers for US and Mexican markets.

AccelRate Power Systems has introduced a range of battery chargers targeted at the Canadian motive power industry to complement its existing series of 480V lead-acid battery chargers for US and Mexican markets.

AccelRate's new 600V battery chargers, offering a choice of four capacities ranging from 180 to 500Ah to effectively cover the complete range of large industrial batteries, are specifically aimed at the Canadian industrial forklift user where the emphasis is on the need for rapid charging, improved battery performance and increased space utilisation.

AccelRate's charger product line offers numerous advantages over the most advanced battery charger technologies.

Benefits include the ability to provide a "full" state-of-charge in two hours, automatic recognition of voltage, battery capacity, battery chemistry and state-of-charge.

The latest insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) high-frequency power electronics technology incorporated in AccelRate's product line allows for a compact and light-weight wall-mountable charger.

The chargers may also be equipped with battery/charger communicators, allowing the battery and charger to share information in real time, thereby ensuring better monitoring and fleet management and maximising their return on their capital investment.

The charger also receives real-time data from the batteries, ensuring maximum performance and safety.
