Tight grip for milling inserts
Advanced Carbide Tooling is offering users of Metal Masters face milling cutters free-of-charge a new type of insert clamping screw and T-bar driver for securing the patented Frustum inserts.
Toolholders consist of 20 x 20mm square section shanks with integral insert support blades.
They are machined from solid high alloy steel and heat-treated to Rockwell 50C hardness to produce exceptionally high strength and rigidity.
Inserts are held positively in position by a flush-fitting spring-loaded mechanical top clamp which also provides good access for lubricant and assists swarf removal.
The new NDC inserts developed for the ACT2.2 face-grooving system have a 10-degree positive top rake geometry which reduces the width of the swarf to ensure it exits freely from the groove.
The choice available includes an advanced sub-micron grade in coated and uncoated versions for machining particularly difficult materials.
