ComputerBoards and Hewlett-Packard launch HP VEE Lab for data acquisition and measurement

ComputerBoards and Hewlett-Packard have worked together to offer the first truly affordable graphical programming environment designed specifically for data acquisition, measurement and control.

Available now in the UK from Adept Scientific, HP VEE Lab combines the power of graphical programming with support for ComputerBoards' comprehensive range of PCI, ISA and PCMCIA (PC Card) data acquisition I/O boards.

Combining an easy-to-use interface with powerful built-in functions and support for a wide range of GPIB instruments, HP VEE Lab provides a flexible, affordable software solution for data acquisition and measurement applications.

Its graphical programming environment is easy to master, allowing users to create application software by placing and connecting graphical function objects, rather than writing syntax-specific text.

As a true programming environment, HP VEE Lab can handle even the most complex applications.

Unlike many menu or task oriented data acquisition and control packages, HP VEE Lab is not limited to a fixed number of predetermined tasks.

It can read/write data in a wide variety of ways, and has over 200 built-in mathematical and scientific functions, including DSP and statistical functions.

Unlike other graphical programming tools, HP VEE Lab provides ready-made programming blocks as high-level, integrated graphical objects, eliminating the need to handle low-level commands.

You simply select the function blocks you require and 'wire' them together on-screen.

A large number of data display functions including meters, thermometers, X-Y plots and strip charts are provided, as well as a range of buttons and controls which can all be integrated into a user interface panel.

Users can develop applications based on I/O boards, IEEE-488 instruments, or both.

HP VEE Lab works with all ComputerBoards I/O boards and with GPIB boards from most vendors.

A powerful Instrument Manager greatly simplifies setting up IEEE-488 systems, and HP VEE Lab includes a comprehensive library of drivers for most popular GPIB instruments.

Most users will find HP VEE Lab provides all the power and flexibility they are ever likely to need.

There is however an upgrade path from HP VEE Lab to the full HP VEE, and applications produced with HP VEE Lab will work flawlessly in HP VEE.
