Simulation and modelling for Mathcad at
low cost

Adept Scientific has released VisSim for Mathcad - a special version of the leading dynamic simulation and modelling software from Visual Solutions Inc designed to integrate with Mathcad 2000 and 2001 VisSim for Mathcad makes it easy for engineers using Mathcad - the world's most popular calculation and documentation solution for engineering design and other technical applications - to simulate and test control, communication and signal processing systems based on Mathcad computations

VisSim for Mathcad is a complete, dynamic simulation tool, compatible with Mathcad 2000 and 2001, which makes it easy to model complex systems on a PC.

It provides engineers with an intuitive drag-and-drop interface to model and simulate a vast array of dynamic systems.

Mathcad users can create "virtual" software prototypes on their desktops, saving both the design time and costs associated with physically building and testing models.

VisSim for Mathcad is based on Visual Solutions' VisSim, a proven Windows solution for modelling, testing, optimising, validating and maintaining dynamic systems.

Like its parent product, VisSim for Mathcad incorporates a powerful, time-domain simulation engine with a highly intuitive, drag-and-drop block diagram interface.

It provides fast, accurate and reliable solutions for linear, nonlinear, continuous time, discrete time, time varying and hybrid system designs.

An extensive library of some 200 ready-made function blocks is included, and users can also develop and use their own Mathcad routines as function blocks within VisSim for Mathcad's powerful desktop modelling environment.

(MATLAB files and functions can be used too.) The required blocks are dragged into place and "wired" together on screen, and a click of the mouse button runs the simulation.

This provides the feedback the engineer needs to refine and modify the design, try out different configurations, select optimal parameters and develop the most cost-efficient solution before committing to building the actual physical system.

There is no need to build costly prototypes.

VisSim for Mathcad allows up to 100 function blocks to be incorporated into a model, enough to create and simulate sophisticated, flexible models of dynamic control or communication systems.

An optional extension is available to increase the block limit to 500; and should the user wish to upgrade to the full VisSim Professional package, with unlimited block use, Adept Scientific will credit the full cost of VisSim for Mathcad.

Among the 200+ function blocks included with VisSim for Mathcad are over 100 general purpose blocks such as linear and nonlinear system blocks, integration, optimisation, matrix operation, arithmetic, signal consumer and signal producer blocks.

A Controls Toolbox Library that includes pre-built P, PI, PID controllers, rate feedback and limited controllers makes VisSim for Mathcad ideal for control system design applications.

VisSim for Mathcad also includes over 40 communication blocks for the modelling and simulation of analogue, digital and mixed mode end-to-end communication systems at the signal or physical level.

The communication block set includes encoders and decoders, modulators and demodulators, channels, RF components and PLLs.

There are also some 55 signal processing blocks including signal sources (waveform generator, sinusoid, frequency sweep etc), filters (adaptive equalizer, FIR, IIR etc), operators (A/D converter, complex FFT, IFFT, PSD, spectrum analyser), estimators and digital elements for modelling complex signal processing algorithms.

A built-in FIR and IIR filter design wizard and filter response viewer simplifies and automates the filter design process.

VisSim for Mathcad is a life-cycle tool as well ? users can adapt and maintain the system as time goes by and circumstances change.

A royalty-free VisSim Viewer is included, which users can distribute to colleagues and customers so they can run simulations of the design and change parameters.

VisSim for Mathcad is available as an add-on package for users of Mathcad 2000 or 2001, or as an upgrade to VisSim/LE, a sub-set of VisSim with a 25-block limit that is included with Mathcad 2001. Request a free brochure from Adept Scientific ...
