The new PMD-1608FS from Measurement Computing offers eight channels of high speed simultaneous sampling analogue input at a class leading price of less than GBP 300 (plus VAT and shipping).
It has outstanding capabilities for a neat device that's only around 3.25in square and 1in high - big enough to make connecting field wiring easy, small enough to fit on even the most crowded workbench.

"Perhaps most remarkable of all is that the PMD-1608FS offers input accuracy and noise performance equal to that offered by 16bit DAQ board products from other vendors, all at one-seventh the price of comparable PCI-based data acquisition devices".
With a 16bit A/D convertor on each channel, the PMD-1608FS provides 50Ksample/s simultaneous sampling with 100Ksample/s overall throughput using USB v1.1 or v2.
It is fully USB plug and play compliant, and needs no external power supply.
Like all PMD modules, the PMD-1608FS includes a comprehensive software bundle that meets the needs of both programmers and nonprogrammers, including an installation and test application and a handy strip recorder and data logger utility to get users started.
Drivers for standard Windows-based programming languages including Net, LabView and DasyLab drivers and a full set of SoftWire controls are also available, so it's easy for users to write their own applications.
Reliable and rugged enough for industrial applications, yet at a price that makes one-per-bench across the lab affordable, the PMD-1608FS is an ideal way to add measurement capability to any USB capable computer.
It's perfect for OEM use as well - an easy and affordable way of providing USB connectivity to any end product, with freely downloadable OEM software support in the form of a comprehensive set of C++ routines and their source code.
