Mac word processor incorporates Endnote X2

An Adept Scientific product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 5, 2009

Endnote X2 from Thomson Reuters is being integrated into the Pages '09 package, providing Mac users with Cite While You Write functionality in Apple's word processor package.

Endnote X2 introduces a full text locator for references, Smart Groups for instant reference sorting, Cite While You Write, and additional features that allow users to maximise efficiency and focus on research.

'Endnote X2 combines time-saving features such as finding full text and Smart Groups to streamline the research process for Mac users,' said Keith MacGregor, EVP academic and government markets, Thomson Reuters.

'Additionally, direct access to scholarly resources in ISI Web of Knowledge and fast-tracked online manuscript submission using Manuscript Central provides researchers with integrated solutions from discovery to publishing.' Mathtype from Design Science has been chosen as the equation editor for its Numbers (spreadsheet) package.

'The Mac has always been big in education, science and engineering,' said Paul Topping, Design Science's president and chief executive officer.

'Until now, Mac users that needed equations were limited to using Microsoft Office.

'Now they have a choice, and it is expected that many Mac users in these markets will make the move to Iwork.

'If they have existing Microsoft Office documents containing Mathtype or Equation Editor equations, these can be imported into the new Iwork applications and can be edited.' Mathtype has long been known as the professional version of the Equation Editor in Microsoft Office, used to create papers and presentations with textbook-quality equations.

Now that Mathtype works with Apple's Iwork, coverage of the most popular word processing and presentation applications on Mac and Windows is virtually complete.

Endnote X2 for Macintosh is available from Adept Scientific, a Thomson Reuters partner and support centre in the UK and Ireland, Germany, Austria and Denmark.
