Adept offers Maplesoft design tool and software

An Adept Scientific product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 1, 2009

Maplesoft's recently released Maplesim multi-domain modelling and simulation tool and its Maple computing software for engineers, mathematicians and scientists are now available from Adept Scientific.

These products are based on Maplesoft's core technologies, which are claimed to include advanced symbolic computation engine and physical modelling techniques.

The design, modelling and simulation tool can lower costs and reduce product cycle time by weeks and months, according to Maplesoft.

Maplesim 2 combines a physical modelling environment with symbolic techniques to reduce the time and effort required to create highly efficient models.

The release introduces 3D visualisation and animation tools that are intended to transform multi-body models into realistic animations, providing a greater insight into system behaviour.

It is also claimed to simplify tasks by providing tools for managing results from multiple simulations.

At the core of Maplesim lies Maple, containing an advanced symbolic computation engine, numeric solvers and a technical document interface.

Maple 13 provides enhanced tools that support every stage of the solution development process and features novel 3D plotting facilities and solvers.

It is said to offer a starting point for engineering calculations with the Maple Portal for Engineers, point-and-click access to control system analysis tools and expanded computer-aided-design (CAD) connectivity that adds NX to the list of supported CAD systems.

Plotting facilities include annotation tools and fly-through animations, making 3D plots easier to interpret.

Maple 13's solvers are intended to expand the problem-solving abilities of engineers; they include techniques for finding solutions to differential equations that are beyond the scope of standard methods, according to the company.
