Adept offers JAI 16-megapixel cameras

An Adept Electronic Solutions product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 6, 2009

JAI's 16-megapixel AM-1600CL and AB-1600CL cameras are now available from Adept Electronic Solutions.

These JAI models incorporate the Kodak KAI-16000 dual-tap progressive scan CCD to deliver full 4872 x 3248 pixel resolution at three frames per second.

The AM-1600CL provides monochrome output and the AB-1600CL provides raw Bayer colour output suitable for host-based interpolation.

Both models have Camera Link interfaces offering user-selectable 8-bit, 10-bit or 12-bit output.

As members of JAI's C3 Advanced series, the 16-megapixel cameras offer a combination of high image quality and industrial grade reliability.

Features include: user-definable partial scanning for higher frame rates; 2X binning (H, V, or H+V) for increased sensitivity and speed; user-programmable look-up table (LUT); built-in pixel blemish compensation; built-in flat-field correction; 70G shock testing and 10G vibration testing (20Hz to 200Hz XYZ); integral heat sink plus ridged housing for low noise operation; precise sensor alignment; and a choice of lens mounts.

Standard operating features of the AM-1600CL and AB-1600CL models include pre-select and pulse-width trigger modes, and an electronic shutter offering 10 preset speeds or user-programmable settings from 1/3 to 1/3378 seconds in increments of 98.66us (one line).

The AM-1600CL and AB-1600CL can be used where high image quality and a wide field of view are required, including flat-panel LCD inspection, solar panel inspection, PCB inspection, 3D metrology, biometrics and microscopy.

The AM/AB-1600CL cameras are also suitable for high-end outdoor uses including surveillance, aerial imaging and homeland security applications.

The Camera Link models are available now.

Models with GigE Vision interfaces are in the final stages of development and will be available soon.
