Real-time I/O is really fast and simple

An Adlink Technology product story

High Speed Link (HSL) is a novel technology based on open standards for distributed real-time I/O.

High Speed Link (HSL) from Adlink Technology is an innovative technology based on open standards for distributed real-time I/O.

HSL allows users to install a control network using only inexpensive Cat 5 cable and plain copper wire, and to manage thousands of I/O points from an off-the-shelf industrial PC, making HSL more economical, manageable and flexible than existing solutions.

Providing an easy and inexpensive way to connect PC-based controllers to their I/O points, HSL is a fast multidrop serial technology best suited for I/O control and automation application requirements.

Based on the RS422 open standard, HSL is designed for full/half-duplex, multidrop serial transmission.

In addition, I/O modules are hot swappable to allow maximum uptime.

The PCIbus master card with DLL supports memory read/write capability on the PC, using minimal CPU resource while allowing the system to operate at full speed even under the Windows operating system.

Communication between master card and slave modules are done in hardware to assure real-time processing.

Versatile slave modules include 32-channel discrete input/output or 16-channel discrete input with eight relay channels.

HSL enables a single PC be configured to support more than 32,000 digital input or output points.

At its capacity, all the points in the network still could be scanned in less than 2ms without putting a burden on the host PC.

Operating systems support included standard Windows 98/2000/NT, Embedded NT and Linux drivers and DLLs.

An expanding choice of software tools such as IEC 61131-3, DAQ Bench, ISaGRAF is available for engineers to rapidly and efficiently port applications to a PC-based controller.
