Communications product simplifies HMI/Scada development in Visual Studio.NET and compatible environments.

Automated Solutions has a new communications product for HMI/Scada development in Visual Studio.NET and compatible environments ASComm.NET offers support for major industrial brands and protocols such as A-B, Modbus, GE and Automation Direct

ASComm.NET is the successor to the company's successful ActiveX Control lineup, but the NET library is a complete redesign and provides usability and compatibility features that greatly exceed those of the ActiveX controls.

For starters, the NET component implements a "pluggable" driver approach.

The pluggable approach allows users to license one or more drivers to deliver the exact functionality required for their application.

Drivers can be added without effecting existing code or requiring special handling.

From the user standpoint, users are presented with a consistent user-interface regardless of the target hardware or protocol For users of Automated Solution's ActiveX Controls, the NET library delivers similar read/write data transfer capability.

However, in order to take some of the programming logic out of the user's hands, the NET library also implements tag database functionality.

Tags can be created, added to groups with a specified update interval, and can be synchronously or asynchronously read/written.

In addition, advanced processing options can be applied to tags including deadband, scaling, alarming, events, and XML output.

Another highly requested feature is the ability to use the library in all Windows target applications, including service, console, Windows Forms, and Web Forms.

ASComm.NET supports most NET build targets and an embedded version is in the pipeline.

According to Ted Kirby, Sales Manager: "This product is the result of customer input and feedback over Automated Solutions' 11 years in business".

"We are very excited about the release of this product and our customers have expressed great interest".

"And since it is a runtime-free product for most applications, ASComm.NET is the ideal solution for machine builders and OEM applications that use Visual Studio.NET for HMI development".

ASComm.NET drivers are self-contained; no third party driver purchase is required.

Licensing can be fully accomplished online via the Internet or by telephone.
