Reliable alternative to normal welding screws

Arnold Strux screws are captive fasteners which are pressed into formed sheet metal parts providing a sheet metal component ready for installation.

Arnold Strux screws are captive fasteners which are pressed into formed sheet metal parts providing a sheet metal component ready for installation.

They are a very reliable alternative to conventional welding screws, riveting or pressed-in bolts.

High ejection forces and high torsion moments are typical for pressed-in Arnold Strux screws.

In use, the Arnold-Strux is fed through the prepunched sheets into the die-plate (platen) positioned below it.

During the press-in process the press-in screw is first centred by the calibration collar.

With continued axial movement of the Strux screw the hole in the sheet is widened by the calibration collar.

With continued progress the Torx locking feature is pressed into the sheet.

This involves a displacement of the material into the annular groove.

The sheet material displaced into the annular groove in combination with the special contour of the calibration collar on the annular groove side produces very high ejection strength.

This results in very high resistance against axial loading (such as impact on the screw end during assembly).

During the pressing-in process there is also metal pressed into the free spaces of the Torx locking feature.

This ensures the very high resistance against rotation of the Arnold Strux screw.

Normally, this resistance against rotation depends only on the shear strength and thickness of the metal sheet.
