Cost-effective reliable direct screwing of plastic

An Arnold Umformtechnik product story

The asymmetric thread profile of the Arnold Remform screw optimises the material flow of the formed plastic thread.

With the ever increasing use of plastics for both technical and economic reasons, more and more significance is being placed on the need for a cost-effective and process-reliable method of fixing.

This trend has brought new demands for the screws that have to be used, particularly in the area of fibre-reinforced materials.

This has driven the need for the development of new thread geometries which are able to offer process-reliable assembly, and Arnold Umformtechnik has met this challenge with its Remform screw for plastics.

The asymmetric thread profile of the Arnold Remform screw optimises the material flow of the formed plastic thread, owing to the asymmetrical thread geometry leading the forces which appear during installation into the appropriate direction, and achieving a completely supported thread on the whole length of the screw.

The improved flow of material is due to the leading thread flank having a radius, thus allowing the material to flow as deeply as possible into the core of the diameter and the steeper side of the flank (which points towards the head), gathering material which has been displaced in axial direction allowing a much bigger thread engagement, which gives high pull-out loads.

This thread geometry also offers much reduced radial stresses, (which can burst bosses) very low thread forming torques and high failure torques giving the user a process-reliable assembly.
