Compressed air systems improve production rates

An Advanced Dynamics product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 20, 2005

Advanced Dynamics claims that its equipment can improve production rates and the quality of products, prolong tool life and decrease shutdowns.

Amid growing concerns over increasing energy costs and reduced renewable energy sources, leading systems provider, Advanced Dynamics is targeting the manufacturing industry with its range of compressed air systems.

Advanced Dynamics claims that its equipment can improve production rates and the quality of products, prolong tool life and decrease shutdowns.

Its range of air nozzles and jets, enclosed coolers and cold air guns are suitable for all types of manufacturing, including metal, rubber, wood, plastic and ceramic production.

But the company stresses that compressed air systems must be managed correctly to cut the impact of energy tax and operational costs.

Managing Director of Advanced Dynamics, Mike Essler, explains: "Mechanical parts and tools become extremely hot during production; in fact for every 10C increase, online production shutdowns will occur twice as often".

"Compressed air systems stop the build up of heat with a steady stream of subzero air, targeting a specific component, but it is highly important for manufacturers to perform frequent audits to identify inefficiencies and wasted energy".

The equipment supplied by Advanced Dynamics has been designed and manufactured to the highest specification by the world leading specialists in compressed air technology, ITW Vortec.

Cold air guns, supplied by Advanced Dynamics, improve dry machining and eliminate the mess, expense and safety issues concerned with using mist coolants.

The internal Vortex tube converts factory-filtered compressed air into a cold air stream, which produces temperatures as low as -35C.

There are no moving parts to wear out and the pressure output helps clear chips and dust.

Typical applications include milling, drilling or turning operations, surface grinding, welding and soldering, and also setting hot melts and adhesives.

Small, compact, multi-function electronic controls, with variable speed drives and servos are extremely sensitive to heat and contamination.

Excess heat causes digital displays to misread, controls to drift and breakers to trip.

Vortex coolers produce quiet, efficient and reliable cabinet cooling, and are easier to install than air conditioners and most fans.

ITW Vortec's energy saving nozzles and jets amplify airflow volume up to 25 times more than the compressed air supplied.

The result is less compressed air usage to deliver the same or greater thrust performance.

Ideal for all types of blow off, cooling and drying applications, these nozzles and jets are available in a variety of low and high thrust models.

Additionally, they deliver a very precise airflow making them perfect for moving parts or ejection.

Essler added: "Advanced Dynamics offers a range of cooling solutions for industrial manufacturing purposes but the demand for compressed air will always vary as production demands change".

"So, companies are advised to inspect their systems and refine their settings to ensure energy usage remains low and long-term energy efficient goals are met".
