A new range of waterproof hoods for D-type connectors made by FCT offers an effective and low-cost alternative to the normal method of waterproofing using two sealed D connectors.

A new range of waterproof hoods for D-type connectors made by FCT offers an effective and low-cost alternative to the normal method of waterproofing using two sealed D connectors.

The simple design allows the hood to completely enshroud a standard non-waterproof cable connector mated with a standard non-waterproof panel connector.

IP67 sealing is achieved using an O-ring seal on the front face that fits against the panel and a pressure washer that seals the cable entry.

Two types are available: the FWA for use when mating with a rear mounted panel connector and the FWAF for when mating with a front mounted panel connector.

Both are supplied in sizes 1 and 2 (9- and 15-way) with straight cable outlet with strain relief.

Metallised versions are available for EMI/EMC shielding.
