Volcano shifts smoke to safety
AEG Lafert has developed a new range of smoke ventilation motors that fully comply with European draft standard EN12101-3.
To meet the increasing demands for industrial motors for application in shopping malls, underground car parks and particularly tunnels, the engineers of AEG Lafert have developed a new range of smoke ventilation motors that fully comply with European draft standard EN12101-3, which after publication will become the mandatory standard across Europe Called the Volcano, the new range has been fully tested and certified by the notified body TU - Munchen in Germany to meet the stringent criteria laid down in the new draft

New range of aluminium induction motors introduced
Available in frame sizes 63-180 and powers 0.12-30kW, the new AEG Electric Motors aluminium induction motor range has improved efficiencies and now complies with the CEMEP Eff 1 category
As well as the better-known duties such as 300C for 1h and 250C for 2h, the Volcano has received approval for 400C for 2h.
For this application a cast-iron frame is used and particular attention paid to the life of the windings, their output leads and the bearings.
For the lower temperatures alloy frames can be used with cast-iron end shields and fitments.
The Volcano is available in power ranges up to 200kW and has the product designation AMU, which indicates that it has been designed within the exacting parameters laid down by AEG Lafert for the successful SMRI family of motors.
To incorporate efficiency in running and safety in emergency, the Volcano is also available in the higher-efficiency design as agreed and established by CEMEP in Europe, meeting the eff1 category.
