Debut at Drives and Controls
AEG Lafert Electric Motors will be exhibiting its range of induction motors for the first time at the Drives and Controls Show at the UK NEC.
From the total site area of 20,000m2,13,000m2 is designated to production and offices.
In total the new project represents a Eur 17 million investment for the Lafert Group.
Luca Trevisiol, Managing Director of AEG Electric Motors, justifies this investment as the only possible way to compete with new strength and secure further growth in the future.
He states: "The modernisation of the factory and rationalisation of it's processes is the only way to proceed in an international market which becomes more and more demanding".
"We are constructing for the future and are prepared to face new challenges".
The relocation is programmed for August 2003, normally a shutdown period, with production starting in the new installation in September of this year.
The investment includes new installations in all production areas incorporating, amongst others, new winding machines, assembly lines, test cabins, impregnation and painting installations.
It also has designs for an innovative flow layout for optimisation of the production processes, as well as the implementation of new, flexible systems for handling and storage of materials.
Together with advanced information technology recently incorporated for real-time production control and the future creation of a CRM system.
Trevisiol adds "we will move ourselves into one of the most modern factories in Europe, thus increasing our productivity, service and, key to our strategy, flexibility for our customers".
