AEG Electric Motors is Europe's fastest growing motor manufacturer and its new factory will increase productivity by more than 20 per cent.
Being the first new electric motor factory in Europe for some years, AEG Electric Motors' new facility represents a major statement of confidence by the company, both in its ability to meet the demands of its customers and to increase its share of the international motor market Located in Terrassa, Spain, AEG's new factory is the product of a ?20m investment that replaces the original 1930's plant which was located just a few kilometres away

Available in frame sizes 63-180 and powers 0.12-30kW, the new AEG Electric Motors aluminium induction motor range has improved efficiencies and now complies with the CEMEP Eff 1 category
Debut at Drives and Controls
AEG Lafert Electric Motors will be exhibiting its range of induction motors for the first time at the Drives and Controls Show at the UK NEC.
From a total site area of 20,000m2, some 13,000m2 is devoted to production, warehousing and offices.
Output capacity of the new plant is 620 motors/day compared to 485 motors/day of the previous 18,000m2 production facility.
Motors produced at the new factory are LV machines with ratings from 0.06 to 200kW, of which some 75% are expected to be customised units.
Luca Trevisiol, managing director of AEG Electric Motors, justifies this investment as the only possible way to compete with new strength and secure further growth in the future.
As it is, Trevisiol says the company is the fastest growing motor company in Europe having increased market share from 1.5% in 1994 to 6.9% in 2002 (turnover in the UK since set up in 2000 has nearly trebled to 6% of European turnover).
"The new factory," Trevisiol states, "with its modern rationalised methods of production gives us the capabilities to compete in the ever more demanding international markets.
"We are constructing for the future to enable us to face new challenges".
The new factory contains the latest manufacturing technologies, including new winding machines, assembly lines, test cabins, impregnation and painting facilities all incorporated in an innovative flow layout that optimises production processes.
This is complemented by dynamic and flexible systems for handling and storage of materials.
All this is marshalled by advanced information technology to achieve real-time production and ultimately lead to a total CRM system.
"Our new factory" Trevisiol adds, "gives AEG Electric Motors one of the most modern and efficient factories in Europe, enabling the company to increase productivity, enhance service and, key to our strategy, extend flexibility for our customers".
