Motors safe for dusty atmospheres
A new range of dust-ignition-proof motors, compliant to ATEX standards (Directive 94/9 EC), has been introduced by AEG Lafert Electric Motors.
AEG's new DAM dust ignition proof motors are certified by a European laboratory for use within Zones 21 and 22.
For dust environment applications, the motor surface temperature is critical, therefore the certification calls for a restricted level during testing.
IP55 and 65 enclosures are offered to avoid the accumulation of dust within the motor where it can be liable to cause an ignition hazard in dusty atmospheres, such as experienced with cereal handling and in saw mills.
These new AEG motors are available from 0.25 to 200kW power ratings and frame sizes range from 80 to 315.
They will be issued with an EC Declaration of Conformity together with Instruction Manuals in the language of the destination country.
